Our Cat Mom, Anne, has spent $1,000s on cat toys, cat beds, cat perches, cat scratchers, pet water fountains, catnip, barley/wheat grass, hairball medication, cat food, and treats over the 14 years that we've been with her. The following have been the biggest hits with us:
One of our favorite cat things in the house is a very simple idea, but we both love them, and give them "two paws up" - corrugated cardboard cat scratchers. We especially like the double-wide ones, and like for Mom to sprinkle catnip on them. Both Sweetie and I insist on several of these around the house, and would recommend more than one. You can order these from our store. We also love our scratching posts to help us stretch and scratch at the same time. What fun!!
Another favorite item of mine is the DrinkwellR Pet Fountain. The original DrinkwellR Pet Fountain holds 50 ounces of water, and I can stick my head under the spout and get it directly out of the fountain. I definitely drink more water this way, as I don't really like drinking out of my water bowls. My friend, Rooney, had the DrinkwellR PlatinumR Pet Fountain, which is a larger model. As for toys, there are sooooooo many of them available, it is hard to pick just one. I will tell you, however, that both Sweetie and I love catnip filled pillows/fabric bags that allow us to lick and chew on them to really get the catnip flavor into our system. Go to our store to order some of these now.
We also love "furry" mice with tails (preferably), so that we can carry them around the house. Again, these are a must, but have more than one, they are just so much fun. Soft rubber balls with bells, or foam balls are also fun to kick around and play with. All you have to do is convince your pet parent to roll them down the hallway, and away you go after it. How much fun is that?
We have a new toy in the house now, called the FroliCat Bolt Laser Toy. We think this is a very cool toy. It will work automatically for 15 minutes, or our CatMom can use it to play with us as well. You really should think about one of these. Even though we are both 14 years old (or almost 14), this toy brings out the kitten in both Sweetie and myself. Check our cat toys for this item.
We love soft places to take our naps, and one of my favorite items is a thermal pad (with leopard print, of course). These pads do not require any electricity, as they reflect my body heat back to me, and are very soft and nice to lay on. They are especially nice during the winter, when it is cooler in the house, but even during the summer months, you can find me here. As an alternative, there are "Snuggle Safe" discs that can be inserted into pet beds to provide warmth for several hours. These discs can be heated in the microwave, and do not require any cords. Check our store for this item, you'll be purring yourself to sleep.
As evident by the picture above, we also love our cat and window perches. "Two paws way, way up". We have seven cat perches throughout the house that have been collected over the years from various sources, and are a "must have" for any cat household. We like to sit up as high as we can so that we can survey our territory, and also enjoy using our perches as additional scratching options. Perches come in all shapes and sizes, various materials, and colors to complement your pet parent's furniture. The wider the base, the better, as when we jump onto the perches, we prefer that they don't topple over. Stability is the key, so be sure to let your pet parent know that you want a very stable perch that doesn't wobble. Hi, my name is Choco (on the left) and here's my "brother" Buddy (on the right). I'm six years old, while Buddy is 5 1/2 years old. We are both very happy kitties that live in San Jose, CA with our mom, Luchie. We are both very loving cats, and my mom says I'm a "snuggle bug". I also love to sit in laps and to eat my snacks. Buddy is very playful and purrs like a train. Sometimes, it is even hard to take a nap while he's purring. We enjoy our Drinkwell pet fountain, and our mom just bought us a FroliCat Bolt toy to play with. We're still getting use to it, but think it is a very interesting toy. Hi, my name is Milo, although I'm a girl. I was found running around the soccer field at Flager Community College in Florida. I needed a good home, so I now have a new "mommy" - Amanda. I also have some wonderful grandparents now, too - Betsy and Bill - that live in Deltona, Florida. I love rope tug toys, balls, and anything else that I can grab with my teeth and run around with. I also love other doggies, as long as they will play with me. The vet thinks I'm about six months old, but I'm not telling my real age. Girls like to remain as young as possible for as long as possible. Thank you, Amanda, for rescuing me. Now, let's go play some more.
Hi, we are Blanche, Keely and Ambrose, three cute and adorable Westies that live in Minnesota with their mom, Sid. This picture was taken just after a four mile walk around Cedar Lake in Minneapolis, and we are "dog tired". Our mom named this picture "Three Dog Nite". Blanche is the smallest in the back of the picture, Keely is on the left and Ambrose is on the right. We generally are full of energy, but even three cute and sweet Westies need their rest after such an outing. We are proud to be included in Topcat's Panel of Experts, and are also very proud of our mom, Sid Korpi, who just published a new book - "Good Grief - Finding Peace after Pet Loss", which is being carried in Topcat's Pet Products store. Wake us up when it's time for another outing.
Hi, I'm Duffy. I'm a 17 pound, 8+ year old, Cairn Terrier, that looks like Toto from the Wizard of Oz. While my Mom, Judy,, serves as President of the Pinewood Condominiums in Homosassa, Florida, I'm the building superintendent. I have all my residents trained to have dog treats available in all 14 units, and I know where they are all kept!!. Soon my Northern "Snowbird" friends will be amongst us, and we are expecting very nice weather here for the coming winter. Everyone tells me that I'm a very handsome boy. I have to believe them.
Hi, I'm Jackson (on the right) with my "sister", Sophie (on the left), and we are very loving Malteses that live in Orlando, Florida with our mom, Gwen. I'm 10 years old while Sophie is four years old. Sophie plays with squeaky toys more than I do, but I still love to be the center of attention. As you can tell, we both love to have our pictures taken, and in this particular picture, we are being good "kids" so Santa Claus will bring us lots of presents. Hi, my name is Brownie. I am a neighbor of Topcat and Sweetie's, as I live right across the driveway from them. As you can tell from this picture, I am a very sweet and loving boy. I love to play and be petted, and I always want to be included in the fun times. I love everyone, and am a very patient dog with both children and adults. Topcat and Sweetie's Cat Mom, Anne, gives me a variety of squeaky dog toys, Milkbone treats, and lots of love and affection. I wanted to join in on the block party, but some people wanted me to stay at home. I did get to visit several times, though, and I ate a hamburger.
Hi, I'm Company. I just joined the Panel of Experts on June 1, 2009. I'm a sweet girl that loves running water. I always wanted to jump on the sink and get to the running water. However, I was leaving some cat hair behind, which was making my Mom, Lauren, more work to be done. My Mom bought a Drinkwell pet fountain for me, and after the initial - What is that?, I now love my fountain, and have not left hair on the sink since. My Mom is very happy with that. In this picture, I'm resting among the comfy fresh linens, but I'll be ready to go at a moment's notice.
Hi, I'm Bailey. I'm a sweet girl that loves to be petted, loves to play outside and inside, and loves to be with my Mom, Sandy. Here I am next to my Koi pond in my back yard. I enjoy soft, fluffy squeaky toys, rope pulls, and dog biscuits. I also like "Greenies" treats to keep my breath fresh. My buddy, Anne (TC and Sweetie's Mom) brings me all kinds of toys and treats when she comes to visit me, as well as treats/toys for Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc. I have a whole toy box of squeaky toys, and I will play tug-of-war with most anyone. I love to sleep with Mom, but I do have some dog beds throughout the house that are comfortable.
Hi, I'm Bandit. I'm a very playful boy, that loves to run, jump, eat, and play. I especially like to tear up soft, fluffy squeaky toys, and generally can finish them off in less than two minutes. I tend to chew the toys to bits to get to the squeaker and then I spread the fluffy stuff around the living room. My Dad, Ron, thinks that hard rubber toys, such as the Kong, or rope toys are best for me. They don't leave as big of a mess, and I can take the toys outside as well. I love the twisty treats called Nawsomes and the five flavor Milkbones. I will stand still to be brushed for a few minutes, but prefer to be playing than standing still. I also eat dog food that is specifically for large breeds and the vet thinks that large breed food is beneficial for me. Even though I'm a big boy, I am afraid of thunderstorms, however, and prefer to stay close to my Dad, if I can. If not, my Dad generally keeps the radio on for me, so that it drowns out some of the noise.
Hi, I'm Rocky. I'm a Sharpei, and am a very loving boy. I live with my Mom and Dad (Vickie and Chris) as well as my two human brothers who are three years old and one year old. As you can imagine, my house is not very quiet, and is generally full of activity. I have a lot of patience, as my brothers like to chase me around and tug on me whenever they have the chance. My favorite toys are fluffy, squeaky toys, and I love Beggin Strips as my treat. I live in Villa Park, Illinois, so I do have a yard to play in, but I have to be careful in the summertime that I don't get skin allergies from the grass. I have a wonderful personality, but can be camera shy, so Mom and Dad have to sort of sneak up on me to take a picture. Can you see the pretty wrinkles on my face. That's due to my breeding, as Sharpei are suppose to have a lot of wrinkles. I think I look quite good in this picture, thank you.
Hi, I'm Cleo. I was adopted by my family from the Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago. I'm a lover, not a fighter, and I love to give and receive kisses from those I love. I especially love dog biscuits, my dog bed, and various squeaky toys. I live with my brother Daniel and my sister Emily, as my two other sisters, Becky and Amanda, are away at college. My Dad and Mom (Eric and Patty) are wonderful to me, and I wouldn't know what to do without them. They give me good food everyday and pay lots of attention to me. I love to be near them, but will lie on my bed in the kitchen to enjoy my snacks. I'm very gentle and just want to be loved. I hope you enjoy the toys and treats that are available here. Hi, I'm Barney. As you can tell, I love Christmas. I get lots of toys and treats, and the only thing I have to do is sit still long enough that my mom, Chasidy, can take my picture. I'm a feisty boy, and I love to play, eat treats, and run around a lot to use up all my energy. I say get your dog lots of toys (squeaky ones, especially) and treats. That will keep them happy.
Hi, my name is Colin. I was adopted by my pet parent the day after Easter 2009, from the animal rescue group that adopts pets through the PetsMart in Kenosha, Wisconsin. I was found wandering around outside in February, and was cold and hungry. I stayed at the shelter for two months before I was adopted. Now, I have a wonderful home with a very loving pet parent. I can sleep on the bed, sleep on the sofa, play with my toys, eat lots of good food, and just enjoy being a cat. I'm very lucky. One of my favorite items is my Drinkwell water fountain, which gives me a chance to have fresh water all the time. Some of my other favorite things are my cat scratchers - I'm a vertical scratcher, my perch by the window, furry toy mice, and my "crazy cat circle". I love to play and will kick my toys down the stairs and then try to carry them back up. My pet parent provides me with three litter boxes, all kinds of toys, wonderful food, and best of all, lots of love and attention.
Hi, I'm Angel. I had a pretty rough life before being adopted by my Mom, Jeanne. I had a broken leg, and I think some broken ribs, as well. But, as you can see from this picture, I'm doing fine now. I've graduated from puppy class, and am now a full-fledged member of my household. I like dog sweaters, especially during cold Chicago winters, dog treats, being petted and loved, and like to look pretty.
