Topcat - Director/CFO (Chief Feline Officer) - I turned 14 years old on March 27, 2010. I had a catnip party, played with my furry mice, and took a nice long nap. My Cat Mom gave me some extra treats and my favorite flavor of Fancy Feast.
Forever in our hearts. Sweetie - Former Director/CPO (Chief Petting Officer) - My sister, Sweetie, would have turned 14 years old on May 28, 2010, but she went to the Rainbow Bridge on May 23, 2010 (less than one week shy of her birthday). She always loved catnip, her cardboard scratching pad, being brushed and petted, and being "queen" of the house. Aunt Sandy said Sweetie was a wonderful "lap" kitty.
We were both strays when our Cat Mom adopted us. Aunt Sandy (Bailey's Mom) found me (TC) under a bush in a thunderstorm. I was less than six weeks old and weighed only 1.3 pounds. I was wet, hungry and lonely. I was also scared of everyone, but my Cat Mom and I slept on the kitchen floor together that first night, and we have been inseparable ever since. We adopted Sweetie about a year later from The Pet Practice (Now VCA) in Franklin Park, Illinois only a couple of days before it would have been too late. (I think you know what I mean). I was so happy to have a new sister, although it took Sweetie a little while to get to know me. We lived in Schiller Park, Illinois for 12 years, before our Cat Mom decided to move to Zion, Illinois. We did not like the moving experience at all, but adapted after a few months, and enjoy having a larger house with more room to explore. We now have more napping spots, stairs to run up and down, more food and water dishes around, and bathrooms (litter boxes) on every level. Wow, life is good. (I lost my sister, Sweetie, on May 23, 2010, so right now, life is a little unsettling. I'm hoping that things will return to normal soon, although I'm still wondering why I'm here on my own right now. )
I've trained Mom to stand over me at my food dish while I eat, and I also let her know when it's time for me to be petted, brushed, and played with. Sweetie had Mom trained pretty well, too. Sweetie enjoyed being brushed just as much as I do, and also loved to sit on laps. We've always been somewhat in charge around the house, so it's only natural to have our own company now. We have helped our Cat Mom learn all about cat care, and what makes us happy. We know that our Cat Mom loves and cares for us, as well as all the dog buddies that she has. She's even pet-sat for some of them, so she must also know how to keep dogs happy, as well.
